As I plod on with this new gig I find my mind wandering all day long. It turns out that the company has a few more warts than advertised during the courting stage. But that’s not what’s bothering me. The trouble lies with the intensity at which this job moves or, doesn’t. I think I might have mentioned this before but I’m not sure I have this gear. And by gear I mean I’m not sure if I can move this slowly… all day… every day… day in and day out.

But enough about that because it seems that I wont be happy unless I change something inside of myself so I’m working on that. Some of my coworkers have figured out how to not only get by but thrive in this environment so I will just have to learn to adapt. They don’t call it Fun they call it work for a reason but I had no idea how much time I would be lighting on fire every day. I’m tired and standing on the precious of a twelve hour meeting filled day that I’m actually looking forward too. Weird.

a good long weekend

I am tired, sun charred, and ready for the short week ahead. I wish I had something pithy to tell you right now but I am fresh out of pith. I had a bunch of things I wanted to write about after I took some pictures but the weekend got away from me. I’ll try to get them done this week. I need to show you the tree of Damocles that threatens to take out the back corner of my house. Weird but that just happens to be the place where we store everything of value and our flammables in the crawlspace but I’m not worried as I have an impenetrable wall of Buckthorn.

The other thing is that my shed is under attack by angry birds. I know they are pissed because they are attempting to bring it down by pecking holes in it. Its time for me to start getting the airsoft gun out and send a couple of messages. The neighbor next-door on the other side is fond of tossing sticks from his tree into my yard which has me plotting revenge of inappropriate proportions. Stay tuned.

Even if the boy has a football game right in the middle of it. OK that bugs the living shite out of me as I cant stop talking about it but enough about that. I think I’ll have to find someone to have a beer or two with Sunday afternoon slash evening or else what’s the point to not working on Monday I ask you. That slash made me think of my two days trapped in a car with the Brit. Instead of saying slash he kept using “stroke”. I want to train myself to use that because it sounds cool and my inner thirteen year old would love every opportunity to say stroke in everyday conversation. So I’ll need some drinking partners Sunday afternoon STROKE evening. I am internationally stupid.

Sitting up here at the lake and all is quiet. Everyone else is asleep and its so windy that the water is empty as well. This is one of the ways I like the lake the most. Its weird but late fall after all of the boats are put away its nice and quiet with nothing to do. I need to go and meet the painter that just stained this monster. She did a great job but now she wants to get paid. That’s some bullshit stroke nerve.

big effer tossed another branch last night

The tree next door threw another branch last night and knocked out our power. I would have pictures but the Commonwealth Edison elves were out cutting it up into pieces at 5:30am and it was a power line down no fly zone by the time I got out there. All is well now but the rest of the thing hulks over the house like a dead tree version of that idiotic tower on Pisa. Power is back after thirteen hours or so and we can head to the lake without packing every perishable in the place.

Speaking of the lake its just a day trip for the boy and I as his game is now on Sunday morning. Dead nuts center of our holiday weekend. nice.
